Street Light Outage Reporting
When a non-functioning street light is discovered, you can report it directly to American Electric Power (AEP), South Central Power Company (SCP) or the City of Lancaster. Since there are three different entities who maintain the city's street lighting services, you will need to determine which one to contact.
- Identifying a City-Owned Street Light & Pole
- American Electric Power (AEP) Street Lights
- South Central Power (SCP) Street Light
The City of Lancaster maintains the decorative poles that are located in the downtown area.
These can be reported directly to the Lancaster Department of Transportation (LDOT).
To report a city or ANY street light outage, call (740) 687-6668 or submit a Street Light Outage Form.
When contacting us, please include all of the requested information.
AEP maintains street lights that are located throughout the rest of the city similar to the one pictured below. There are two ways to determine if the street light is maintained by AEP:
1. If it is near your house and your electric service provider is AEP, then most likely the street light is maintained by AEP as well.
2. Each pole should have a pole tag similar to the ones shown below.
American Electric Power can also be contacted directly by calling (800) 672-2231 or visiting their web-site at Report A Street Light Problem and filling out the form.
Please include all requested information, if available, when reporting a problem.
SCP maintains the street lights that are located throughout the rest of the city. There are two ways to determine if the street light is maintained by South Central Power:
1. If it is near your house and your electric service provider is SCP, then most likely the street light is maintained by SCP as well.
2. Each pole should have a pole tag similar to the one shown below.
South Central Power can be contacted directly by calling (800) 282-5064 or visiting their web-site at South Central Street Light Outage and filling out the "Contact Us" form.
