Counting Down the Days
The new plant will start operational testing in the middle of September.  So we are loading membranes, filling sand filters and setting our operational programing.

Three Months to Start Up
Equipment is being installed and testing and programing has started.  Right on schedule for a October 1, 2025 date to start putting water into the system.

Twelve Months to Go 

On July 13, 2024 City Council Members had a chance to tour the North Water Treatment Plant Construction Site.  The plant will be starting Operation Demonstrations for the Ohio EPA in the Summer of 2025 and operational in October 2025.

To meet 21st Century Water Demands and Water Quality requirements, the Division of Water is proposing to construct a new North Water Plant.  The plant will be similar to the existing South Water Plant and provide treatment through aeration, sand filters, membrane filtration and disinfection.  The plant will be located in the Miller Park wellfield at the north end of the park.  The plant will be initially sized at 6 Million Gallons per day with an ultimate size of 9.3 Million Gallons per Day.

​The estimated cost is $95 Million and will be financed through low interest loans from the Ohio Water Development Authority and repaid through water revenue.  Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022 with operation start up in the spring of 2025.
​
​Because of flooding issues, Lancaster Parks and Recreation has already planned to relocate the existing playing fields to a new facility.  A master plan for the park will be developed in conjunction with the water plant design to re-vision the park design for it's best use.
​
