FREE Yard Waste Collection Guidelines
YARD WASTE for the 2025 season will begin March 31st (Whatever your normal collection day is that week)
YARD WASTE DROP OFF AT THE TRANSFER STATION IS SUBJECT TO TRANSFER STATION FEES.
Yard waste is collected seasonally on the same day as your trash pick-up.
ALL yard waste must be set out to the STREET by 7:30am on your scheduled pick-up day. Even if your trash pick-up location is in the alley, yard waste must be set out to the street.
Yard waste must be tied in bundles not exceeding four feet in length and two feet in diameter or weigh no more than fifty pounds each; or
Yard waste must be placed in bio-degradable paper bags weighing no more than fifty pounds each when loaded with yard waste.
Residents may opt to use a designated trash can (NOT YOUR CITY PROVIDED CAN/S) for FREE yard waste collection instead of bio-degradable paper bags. Place a BRIGHT green ring around the middle of the trash can (see example below) with either tape or paint.
If participating in FREE YARD WASTE COLLECTION, co-mingling of yard waste within the same container as acceptable waste is PROHIBITED. Any yard waste in plastic garbage bags is subject to bulk pick-up/extra trash charges.
Acceptable Yard Waste -- leaves; grass clippings; brush; tree trunks and stumps; prunings from trees or shrubs; any plant materials from residential trees and edible gardens; decorative plant materials that do not contain plastic, metal, polystyrene or other non-compostable material, including but not limited to any of the following: pumpkins or gourds, hay or straw bales, holiday trees, discarded or potted flowers, wreaths, and grave blankets. Yard waste does not include materials from industrial processing, agricultural processing, or food processing.
