Responsibilities & Experience:
As Law Director and City Prosecutor, Stephanie handles both civil and criminal responsibilities for the City of Lancaster. On the civil side, she advises City administrators, department superintendents, City boards and commissions on a variety of legal issues. She also drafts resolutions, ordinances and legal opinions, as well as the management of day-to-day operations in the office.
On the prosecution side, Stephanie reviews criminal intake requests for charges, provides advice to federal, state, county and local law enforcement, drafts search warrants and represents the City of Lancaster and State of Ohio in criminal and traffic matters pending before the Fairfield County Municipal Court and Fifth District Court of Appeals. In addition to supervising three Assistant Prosecutors and three paralegals, she has personally prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor criminal and traffic offenses by representing the City and State in arraignments, motion hearings, bench trials, jury trials, sentencing hearings and appeals.
Stephanie is an Amanda-Clearcreek graduate. She went on to attend Ohio University, where she majored in Political Science/Pre-Law and graduated with honors. Stephanie attended Capital University Law School, where she received the distinction of being a member of the Order of the Curia.
While in law school, Stephanie served as a Licensed Legal Intern for the City of Lancaster Law Director and City Prosecutor. She joined the City as an Assistant Prosecutor in 2008 and served in that position until she was promoted to Senior Attorney in 2013.
